March Meeting

The Friends monthly meeting was held on March 20 at the museum.  The membership was treated to an enthusiastic presentation by Lauren MacLeod of the Nevada Department of Wildlife.  Lauren discussed the larger wildlife species in Nevada, their haunts, their food, their scat, and much more.  With all of her show and tell items, Lauren generated a lot of questions and interest.

During the business portion of the meeting, the following were discussed:

  1. The Friends cash on hand is $45,839.  Of this, $14,000 is committed to museum projects currently underway.
  2. Extra money in the Centennial grant will be used to upgrade the show wall in the permanent exhibit area.
  3. Our next book fair will be held on May 3 at the Barnes &Y Noble on Rainbow.  Visit to pick up your gifts for Mother’s Day and graduations.
  4. Our speaker in April will be CHRIS LEAVITT whose presentation “A Peek at the Park” will tell us all about the Las Vegas Wetlands Park.
